Keep Johnston Rolling

50k in 50 Days for a New Truck

Our delivery truck is the heartbeat of how we serve — and it’s running out of time. If 2,000 of us each give $25, we can fund a new one and keep our mission on the move.

Families in Johnston are fighting hunger quietly — and one might be right next door.

Last year alone, Johnston Partnership gave away 823,595 pounds of food — all to families right here in our own neighborhoods. But the need is growing, and our truck can’t keep up. Without it, we can’t do the following:

  • Deliver 500+ backpacks to Johnston Students

  • Bring weekend food bags to food insecure families in Johnston Schools

  • Move clothing for our big community clothing drives

  • + So much more

Neighbors helping neighbors, for more than 25 years.

Johnston Partnership is built on one simple idea — when neighbors care for each other, the whole community thrives. What began with school nurses helping hungry students has grown into a network that serves hundreds of Johnston families every month. Through our food pantry, clothing closet, and mentoring programs, we provide essentials, encouragement, and connection to those who need it most. Every part of it is powered by local support — people like you showing up for their community.

Voices That Keep Johnston Rolling

A family of five smiling outdoors on a sidewalk near trees and a parked delivery truck.

"The partnership has been there for so many families, quietly doing the work every week. We’ve seen what this truck can do, it’s time to keep it rolling.”

Why do you support the Johnston Partnership?

“We choose to support the partnership because we think kindness matters and we can see the work they’re doing day in and day out.”

- The Howe Family

"We’ve watched this truck make deliveries week after week. It is more than metal and wheels. Its hope on four wheels, and right now it needs us."

Why do you support the Johnston Partnership?

"The cool thing about the Partnership is that it covers so many different areas — food, clothing, education, weekend meals. It’s all-encompassing and truly independent of anything else happening in the community."

- The Beghuns

Smiling older man with glasses standing on a sidewalk in a suburban area with trees and a delivery truck in the background.

"This is Johnston. We don’t wait for someone to support us, we take care of our own."

Why do you support the Johnston Partnership?

“We tend to think of hunger as someone else’s problem — but it’s here in Johnston, too. I helped raise funds for the first truck because I saw how much it mattered. That truck’s worn out, and now it’s our turn to step up again.”

Our Truck Can’t Keep Up.

Our current truck is aging fast and can’t handle the volume we’re now delivering. Without it we simply can’t serve families efficiently. We need a reliable vehicle to keep our mission on the road.

Take it From the Man Behind the Wheel.

Few people know this truck better than Bill. For years, he’s been behind the wheel of the Johnston Partnership’s delivery truck — hauling food, school supplies, and essentials across the community every week.

“On Mondays, we go to DMARC on the south side to pick up pallets of food and bring them back. On Wednesdays, we pick up from the Food Bank of Iowa. On Thursdays, we deliver school supplies to different elementary schools to help kids with food for the weekends.”

“This truck is very important to what we do. It’s wearing out, and we really need a new one to keep things moving.”
