For more than 25 years, the Johnston Partnership has cared for families in our community with food, clothing, school support, and connection. By becoming a Neighbor, you make a monthly commitment that helps sustain this work and support local families.

Who is the Johnston Partnership

What began with school nurses helping hungry students has grown into a trusted nonprofit serving hundreds of Johnston & Central Iowa families every month through our food pantry, clothing closet, weekend backpack program, school partnerships, Mentoring and connection efforts + more.

In 2025 alone we:

Distributed 473,000+ pounds of food
Served 10,788 unique individuals across 2,848 households
Distributed 77,214 clothing items
Distributed 16,000 pounds of diapers and personal essentials
Filled 458 backpacks for local students

If you put that all together, we moved over 289 tons of items in one year, all for our neighbors in need. The need is closer than most people realize and it’s only growing.

Johnston Partnership is built on one simple idea — when neighbors care for each other, the whole community thrives. Take it From the Man Behind the Wheel.

Few people know this truck better than Bill. For years, he’s been behind the wheel of the Johnston Partnership’s delivery truck — hauling food, school supplies, and essentials across the community every week.

“On Mondays, we go to DMARC on the south side to pick up pallets of food and bring them back. On Wednesdays, we pick up from the Food Bank of Iowa. On Thursdays, we deliver school supplies to different elementary schools to help kids with food for the weekends.”
